Democracy Town Criers is a creative initiative born of the collaboration between coalition members having backgrounds both in theater and social justice activism. Its vision is to empower and equip ordinary people to lean into lawful but disruptive action, build affinity groups of trusted allies within a broader network, and draw attention to important issues among the community at large.
In 2019, Marriott International pledged not to rent rooms to ICE to house detainees. Since 2023, they have broken that pledge.
A group of Tucson activists, known as The Marriott ICE Melt Coalition, is starting a boycott campaign in Tucson. We hope this campaign goes national to pressure Marriott into renewing their pledge not to collaborate with Trump’s secret police, known officially as Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
